  1. well,

    first of all,

u have to wipe ur feet

wat u do is just get ur hand,

and wipe the bottom of ur shoe.

that will help and prevent u from sliding into the net.

    second,

    why dont u try the:

    1-2-jump

    wat u do is

    start from the blue line,

    or wateva color it is.

    then,

    take to large steps

    and jump

  2. before you jump up, have a breaking foot that keeps your momentum from propelling you into the net. if you're right-handed you small step with your left foot, big lunge-step with your right foot, regular step left with your left foot with it at a 30 degree angle with your toes on that foot going towards your body. that sounds kind of weird, but just try it. the idea is just that you use your foot as a counter to your forward momentum.

and if you want to make varsity, just kill yourself doing every drill and going after every ball. skills can be taught. desire and dedication can't.

  3. Players often think that they have to take their last steps near the net.  Start with your back to the net and about 1 foot in front of the net.  Do your approach away from the net.  Look where you landed.  Start your approach toward the net from there.  You are now in the correct starting position.

You need to make sure your last two steps are like some previous answers.  The last step is called a braking step.  It should be close to your previous foot.  It will propel you more in the vertical mode instead of the net.  If you are right handed, your 2 steps should be right left.  I use a 3 step approach with a big left, a big right and then the small left step.  (Obviously if your hit left handed, you end left right.)

I also used to practice my approach with a wall as my net.  You do not have to hit the wall many times to learn to not hit the wall or net.

  4. When you are coming to the net do this!

    Right.....left......right over left.....left block.

  5. I used to have the EXACT same problem, and it CAN be fixed.

So, the reason you are jumping into the net is because your feet are together when you jump. You always fly forward when your feet are together at the end of your approach, because that is part of the laws of nature.

To help this problem, make sure in your approach you do (if your right handed): Left, (short, fast) right, (medium step past your right foot) left. With your feet in that position, you are able to get down lower when you bend to jump up, and you are able to jump straight up and down. This is because your energy is going in an upward motion, and when you would put your feet together at the end of your approach, you energy would naturally go forward because you can't stop yourself in the momentum of the approach.

    I hope this helped!

  6. when you are trying to do an approach to the net and it comes time to jump make sure your feet are planted on the ground when you jump, if you are still moving when you jump then you will float forwards into the net

  7. when hitting, remember to do your approach. left....right,left. when doing your approach, don't go straight at the net. the apporach is at an ANGLE toward the setter. that really kept me out the net.

when blocking, don't get so close to the net. step farther away & push with your hands and arms. putting your hands straight up doesn't block...you must PUSH with your hands.

  8. when hitting make sure you are far away from the net so you can make your whole approach try starting at the net do your approach and see where you stop and start there next time. There is no rule on how far you can go. Also make sure you don't float while you are in the air. When blocking, make sure you are an arms lenght away from the net and don't drag your hands down along the net after blocking. Good luck making varsity!

  9. i have that exact same problem. my coach told me to use my fence to help. get about as far away asyour approach is from a wall or fence. do you approach you wont jemp forward cause you will hit the wall. i have found that this helps and is great. my hits have gotten better becasue of it. good luck.

  10. for spiking, jump off both feet in the last step and jump up not forward. when spiking, follow through but be cautious on where your hand is and make sure it doesnt go onto the net.

for blocking, you need to reach your hands over the net, but its easy to control where your hands go when blocking.

  11. take 2 or 3 steps back away from your normal area so you will have more room to stay away from the net.

  12. Take a couple steps back from the normal place you start. Or just try jumping up instead of out

  13. If this is when your hitting the best thing i can tell you is to make sure you jump off both feet and plant your last step hard so that way you focus your momentum up instead of forward.

  14. When spinking, make sure you do it approprietly, i.e. starting it two steps away from the net.

When spiking and blocking, jump strictly vertically, and dont lean towards the net.
