  1. If you are the setter of the team it's your job to give the hitter a nice high ball! That's what gives you that point! When you set, make sure your knees are slightly bent. Bend your elbows and push the ball up and high. It's SO IMPORTANT to get that ball up high. Get it about 2ft up from the top of the net when the hitter is approaching. Make sure you spend some time practicing with the hitters cause you have to get the feel of the hitter's timing and your timing.

  2. My guess since you feel your not good at setting that you aren't the setter.  Then there isn't so much stress on be able to set very well, but it'll help.  First, I assume you know the basics of setting so just go out and set with some friends. Focus on all you fingers touching the ball but never let it touch your palm.  Make sure when you end your thumbs aren't pointing to the sky.  A exercise that will help you find ease is this:  Go up against a wall and face it.  hold the ball as far above your head as you can without standing on your tip toes.  Set the ball on the wall but it 's a short set so it shouldn't really go above your fingers.  DO this for a minute straight and then take a break. Then strand back and set a against  the wall without being close to it. Like your setting a spiker.  Then repeat the short sets and the break then longer sets.  Do this for as long as you can and push yourself further. Do this about every day and then try setting with your friends again.  If you did this correctly then in a week or two you should have decent sets and your good to go!!!!!!!!!!  Go Go Gadget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. sorry I suck at setting

  4. You have some good advice above this answer.  I would like to stress several things.  The ready position of your hands looks like a volleyball.  If your friend tosses you the ball and you catch it right above your forehead.  Your friend walks over and takes the ball out of your hands, your hands will be in a great ready position.

Get to the spot on the court where the ball will be EARLY AND WAIT.  Many setters get lazy and try to time it so that they get there the same time as the ball.

Follow through.  People say that you should look like "Superman" when you finish.  Your hands should be pointing out and your arms extended.

  5. I have been setting for 6 years so take my advice.

To get your hands in the right spot, make a triangle with your thumbs and pointer fingers. Then slightly curve your hands so that the ball could sit in the shaping. When a ball is ready to set, step left right. More of a little hop. Then bring the triangle slightly above your forehead and push outward. Make sure not to carry it though. It shouldnt make anysound, and if your doing it good, the ball shouldnt have much spin to it in the air. Hope this helps.
