As I mentioned above, I went at it pretty hard in my game last night. To the point that I started getting leg cramps towards the end. I have 5K tomorrow afternoon and I'm wondering whether I should go for a run today to get rid of the soreness. Or is it better to let my body recover?

  1. No Rob, I'd rest today based on what you've told us.  The nature of your question suggests that you are pretty much a well-trained athlete.  The reasons I'd suggest rest are:

    1.  Since your legs took a beating last night, I'd not risk pulling a muscle or something.  Stretch, warm bath, light massage, then warm up well tomorrow.

    2.  It is said that a pro soccer player runs ~6 miles during a match.  Much of that is sprinting.  I think what you run today will take away from your performance tomorrow.

    Good Luck whatever you do....

  2. well if you are a normally competitive runner then it wouldn't hurt.If you're not used to it, don't strain yourself and do anything that would make you sore, ie, a very light job would be a better idea, and make sure to stretch a TON throughout the day

  3. jog for 10 minutes, just to keep it up.  but of course stretch alot before and after.  the rest of the day, take it easy.  you might want to stretch multiple times throughout the day.  if you are watching tv, just sit in a stretch for a minute and switch and so on.

drink a ton of water too!

    good luck in your 5K!

  4. Yes you should run today. Do your usual warm-ups (warm-up lap and stretches) and easy-light jog for 20 minutes. Make sure to drink plenty of water tonight, go easy on fatty foods and foods with protein (beef). Eat a light dinner high in carbohydrates and a light breakfast also high in carbs.

    -Good luck

  5. i would warm up and thats about it.
