I played with pit- budesh a5 minutes game and he won the game while i had 4 minutes left and he had 0!how?

a 5 minutes game.me white ,pit-budesh black.i was winning a bishop and i had 4 minutes left and then he stoped playing while his time was running.when his time was 2 seconds and mine still 4 he played amove and won the game!his timebar showed 3minutes and mine 0!how does this happen?
