I pod nano 8 gb 3rd generatioin?

My boyfriend bought me a 8gb iPod Nano for our anniversary well it did not give me a cd with it and it wont recognize the device so i cant update it or get it t oshow up on my itunes sidebar is there a sight i can use to download something like what the cd would do for me im not sure what it is called? lol thanks

on itunes go to HELP a click where it says "check for updates". you might have an older version of itunes and it is why it does not recognize your 3rd gen ipod nano. if that does not help or work then uninstall your itunes and then go here

and download the newest version of itunes.

Most iPods don't come with CDs. If they did, it would probably be for iTunes, which you can download at http://apple.com/downloads.
