I poked myself with my sons epipen?

Okay.... so me and my wife were trying to figure out if the epipen that was in the cupboard was a real one or a fake one (a tester that the doc gave us to practice with to get more familiar with) when all of the sudden it went off (because I was being stupid) into my thumb. My finger began to tingle and went somewhat numb. Am I going to die???

no you are not going to die lol.If it was a tester than there really isnt anything to worry about and even if it wasn't then there still is not a big concern about it if you poked yourself with it.

I need to get some of those seeing as my hubby is deathly allergic to bees and I am to cacti so we have no idea if our daughters are allergic or not.

But no you will be fine. Better you poke yourself a bunch of times with a tester to get used to working one then your son.

No, you aren't going to die.  It would be a good idea to get to a hospital though.  If you injected a full dose, you could possibly have a reaction.  Just call the minor emergency triage and ask them if you should come in or not.

I don't think that you will die but you need to call poison control or you local emergency department.

The epipen website says in the case of an accidental injection, you need to seek immediate medical attention. So get to the hospital! Good luck! www.epipen.com

If it was for a child, then it is probably a child size dose and you will be fine.  If you inject a full dose it can cause seizure, but that would have happened immediately.  Call poison control just to be sure, but I think you should be fine.  And trust me, poison control has heard it ALL.  I have had to call for myself twice!  Once because I accidentally drank nail polish remover (long story, if anyone wants to hear it, e-mail me) and once because I swallowed a hydrogen peroxide/water mix I was using as a mouth rinse.  They never laughed at me, so they won't laugh at you!
