A person said I am ignorant to reality I just put it out there because no one has before [ I CLAIM MY RITE TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH ].I did know that I would offend some, but look at all of your answers. We are so locked into the grip of big oil it is outrageous .Through others(wall street and the like) we pay through the nose.Cheap fuel is not a birth rite [ FACT ] but for the billions in profit ; where are new or old refineries being built or updated ?, why are hybrid cars coming out now and costing a high price tag ? ,are oil companies insured against damages from the elements and man made accidental damage? ,why is it we can not supply ourselves with more of our own oil ?. We have environmental impact issues as to why we do not drill in ALASKA and other locations ( EXXON VALDESE disaster is a reminder )

  1. I don't think a boycott is feasable.

What would have been feasable was to avoid the Iraq war, and now another arms race with Russia - to stay low, and not cause unnecesary waves, only when we have to.

I also hope to see the SUV's all going to the junkyard - why do we need little trooper tanks for grocaries? Is the world really so dangerous? Or do we make it out that way?

  2. And what happened on the 15th?

  3. You have a valid concern, unfortunately here in the USA we the people have lost the power due to some simple reasons. For one, we're way to spoil that we do whatever it takes to keep our lifestyle intact. We rather let those corporations and government get away with injustice and we pay the price, but we get to keep the pleasures of having the goods.

See, that's why someone told you that you were ignorant to reality.

Secondly, not everyone agrees to anything anymore. I bet you that if we were all to get together and say, that's it, we're not going to work, to shop, to school, to the movies etc, until we get fair gasoline prices, the giants will move anything to do it, because they don't want to lose profit, but NO, that's not going to happen because we simply are not used to and we don't want to sacrifice our comfortable lives.

  5. Its all about money plain and simple. Right now the biggest

profit for the people in control is oil. Oil has the most bang for the buck of any energy resource right now. Wonder why we really haven't developed solar to its maximum potential. The sun is free. But the bottom line as long as they can pull oil out of the ground and make a tremendous profit they are not going to really work on anything new.

Its sad. If Bush had spent a trillion dollars on alternate energy research the importance of the middle east would become less and less. However since the survival of our dollar rests almost solely on oil and there is huge profits it won't happen.

They have created a system that is destined to crash and burn at some point. There is not unlimited oil and it will take over a decade to convert our economy to another source of energy. The only thing keeping the dollar afloat is the demand for petro dollars. Its a shill game a house of cards. Its going to be real ugly when it collapses.

Have you ever read any work by this man.

  6. I think rather a surprise from Al Qaeda in connections. I myself am anti all oil, it is a sin to use and pull out of the ground, it is from the blood of plants and animals therefore it is unclean, I advocate bible law, abstain from blood, so I stay away these.

  7. Rather than answer your question, here is a problem to think about.

You find 1 million pounds of Manna in your backyard. It didn't cost you anything and you can sell it by the ounce, pound, or ton, however you see fit, and it won't cost you anything but your time.

Global demand for Manna is very high -- when ingested it increases a person's strength and stamina and increases their IQ temporarily by 10 points for each pound consumed. If you were to give it away free, you wouldn't have enough. If you wanted to "clear the market" in one week, you could sell it for $1/pound. You could also sell it for a higher price and your fixed stock would last longer. At $100/lb. nobody would purchase any Manna.

Keep in mind that if you gave it away free, some people would use it for low valued purposes, while others would hang on to it, only to resell it later at a higher price on eBay.

So, what do YOU do? Do you give it away free? If you charge for it, how are you going to answer your critics that say you are price gouging (it didn't cost you a dime, remember) and have obscene profits?

This is not-so-basic economics question having to do with the efficient use of resources. There is an answer, and for the math whizzes out there, if you assume a linear demand curve (and the given information), there is actually a numerical answer to what to do.
