I propose that instead of the tri-nations we have a 3 test series against South Africa and Australia annually?

The tri-nations is a terrible tournament. It's continually slanted towards one team or the other depending on the schedule. Each team playing a home series and an away series each year would be way better. The argies and PIs aren't up to it. Super Rugby for them. What's your take on it?

You arent in any position to propose anything. You arent the head of the NZRU.. I'm fine with the Tri-Nations personally, am glad that they've added 2 more Bledisloe matches though in Hong Kong and Sydney I believe..

i think its funny that it was a 3 game series (NZ vs Aus) for the bledisloe, then when aussie won it, the changed it to 2 and you had to win both or the current holder kept the trophy.  Then after they lost it, they bitched and moaned and fought tooth and nail until it was changed back to three games.  Now its four!  the hong kong game is just for s***s and giggles anyway, just trying to get the yen.

Anyway, Tri Nations is a great tournament, as for the "Slant", with aussie, nz and south africa, they're the three best teams in the world, on any given day, any one of them can beat any one of them.  The South Africans have the best forwards in the world right now and the Aussies have the best backs.  The kiwis have the fact that they are trying to prove something and win back their fans.  The Argies COULD compete at the Tri Nations, they'd get spanked for the first couple years but they'd catch up.  Its a moot pointanyway because they're entering the six nations to play as Spain if they make the quarters in 2010 again.

Argentina and Pacific Islanders should be added to the current set-up and then the winner plays the winner of the 6 nations!!! That would be absolutely class!! A mini world cup final every year.

In the Tri Nations, each team plays three games at home so no one is advantaged or disadvantaged.

I can see your point but I doubt if Rupert would be happy to let it go after the money he has put into it.

I am sure your idea holds much water. I also agree that this tri series can be juggled around to everyones approval. But at the end of the day, its money that really controls this decision.

What we must also keep in mind is that we cannot loose SA in this mix, otherwise a lot of revenue will go away from Rugby. So much careful planning needs to be thought out will all role players.

if you have the 3 best rugby nations in the world being south africa, nz, aussie, then the competition would become boring as the other nations WOULD NOT get the opportunity to raise there level of standards we have to promote the game for it to succeed to an even higher playing field could you imagine this great game with about a dozen teams who where all on equal terms ,what a world cup it would be then. Ahh to smell the leather again
