I have a carbon fiber hood on my cavalier. Its a JSP Carbon Fiber Hood with the S-scoop.

My friends have been telling me to put pins in it so it doesn't blow right off the car on the highway. I have planned to do it for a while now but I dont want to drill throught the carbon fiber hood cause its worth like $750 and I dont wanna mess it up.

How hard is it to actually place the holes and get them correctly in position? How do you place the the other side of the pin under the hood? What does it hook up to?

All answers would be greatly appreciated.

  1. You ought to just install the pins with the hood off and do a lot of measuring, you know measure 20 times and cut ONCE, lol, anyway you should be able to measure over from the fender very easily and when it comes to measuring from front to back you should hold the hood up straight above the pins and do some more measuring for the hole. Good luck!!

  2. the pin itself has threads on the bottom and you drill through the core support(the part of the car between the fenders that the radiator bolts to) and bolt it to that. the best way is to measure, measure, and measure and when you think you have the right spots to drill, mark them on the hood and measure again to be sure than drill through the hood and core support at the same time. start with a bit that is about half the size you need or smaller to make sure it is absolutely where you want it and then drill out to the right size. put masking tape(blue or green 3M tape from paint department at hardware store) on the hood first before marking and drilling to save the finish on the hood.
