dealership i bought the car from and he said he dont keep records 4 years back when i first bought the car. i left the car parked and never changed the title to my name. is there anything i can do?

  1. Your state DMV might have the registration of the previous owner but they don't have any record of the sale of the car to you. They can't just issue you a new title based on what you say, without a bill of sale or any proof that you bought the car. For all they know, you might have stolen the car.

    If the previous owner or dealer can't issue you a duplicate title or bill of sale, you're out of luck.


  2. I think the dealership is feeding you a line, they coould easil;y still geta tax audit or lawsuit from 4 years ago, so they have to keep records. But I would contact the DMV.

  3. The DMV should have something. Whatever you do, don't drive it until you get some type of verification. It might not be worth keeping this car. Right now the cost of metal is very high and a non-running vehicle can bring in a good sum. Ask at the junk yard, if it gets to that.

    That car would probably run like c**p anyway.  Sell it off in parts on ebay and try to get some money out of it.
