I purchased a flat in second sale in 2003 ?

The first owner had purchased the flat from a builder.How ever in the records of the builder the earlier owners name has remained.In july 2008 the flat owner have formed a housing society.Now they are telling me that my previous owner is the member and if I wish to change the name I have to pay extra fee is it correct?

  1. No one here can answer your query.  You need to speak to a solicitor to whom you can show all the documentation.  


  2. It is really strange as to how you purchased a flat

    without obtaining proper documents of title.If the previous owner now refuses to sign over the property to you,your problems will escalate.Better check with the society whether there is any way they can help you,

    including payment of additional charges.

  3. yes. u have to pay to become a member in the society as the flats can be inthe name of a society member only.
