  1. NO. You should not use a conencting block (sometimes called chocolate blocks).

If the cable is part of your ring main then you must use a 30A junction box and properly wire and secure it. This could be a problem if it's in the wall.

Why not insert a 13A socket and pretend that this what you intended to do all the time? You'll need a proper 'box' and secure it nicely to the breeze block etc.

  2. Good shot !!  simple thing to do is make two cords out of what your left with----

  3. I think if you have to ask the question you need to get a qualified electrician. Dont mess with electricity as it could cause a fire or injury.

  4. Only use a 30 amp three way fully enclosed junction box.

Thats one of those round ones with three lumps of brass and screws in them.

Next time buy yourself a metal detector and wire and joist detector.

    Saves a lot of trouble.

    See this link to Screwfix

    Thats what you need.

  5. If this cable is in a wall you need a junction box.  If an extension cord, you can do something like that, but then it is susceptible to dampness.  A new extension cord isn't that expensive.

  6. I can't answer this question legally because the current regulations require you to use a suitably qualified electrician to carry out the repair, but you could just ignore my advice, fit the connector and insulate further with insulating tape and not tell anybody
