  2. Leave the egg alone.  Don't touch it you fool.

  3. Even if they turn out okay, that's really not a good thing to do if you can avoid it (there should be other ways to keep them warm, right?).  It would be too easy to accidentally crack or crush the eggs in your mouth, and also you're getting a lot of bacteria on them that could be harmful to the mother.  Did you clean them off before you gave them back to her?

Well this is one subject I've never seen before. You do realize you put something into your mouth that came out of a bird's butt, right? That's dedication for your birds, I'll give you that...

Note that the "fact" that a mother bird will abandon her nest/chicks because they smell like human is just an old wives' tale (very few birds can even smell us, their sense of smell is so poor), and with a pet bird there's even less chance of her abandoning the nest because of something you've done. I doubt you could have hurt the eggs by sticking them in your mouth. They should be fine, and if the mother is still sitting on them then you can be fairly certain all is well. However, I wouldn't advise you stick budgie eggs into your mouth if you ever happen into the same situation again; next time, just try holding the eggs in your hands instead. If you don't think your hands are warm enough (I for one suffer from terminally cold hands), you can cup the eggs in your hand, against your neck (right under your chin), and that will keep them warm until mommy comes back.

  5. If you did do that ,you will be lucky if you dont get sallmonella poisoning.

  6. well, there may be some people who would think you strange by doing that... but ....

if the mother has returned to the eggs, then you'll not have done TOO much damage, as the primary issue that you would possibly have been dealing with is that your scent may have scared the mother away...

Now that she's back, I suggest you leave her to the job... Eggs don't have to be sat on all the time, and the mother would know how long she could stay awy for before there would have been a real issue...

Eggs OFTEN faill, so don't be surprised if these don't hatch... but I'd not make a habit of putting eggs anywhere near your mouth, as you actually stand a real chance of scaring the mother away for good, and catching salmonella!!

It's honestly better to trust that mom will do a good job, or to consult with a local bird expert and maybe invest in an incubator!!..

I certainly hope that helps... and you have some great chicks soon!!!
