I put in the CD that came with my JVC dv cam and uploaded Digital Photo Navigator 1.10...but its images only?!

Ok so i uploaded this thing as yahooers have recommended, and it didn't help me in putting my video to computer (making a film in Windows Movie Maker). I have asked about how to do it before on here because I have a 4 pin 4 pin lead so I connect my camera to my laptop fine. So they say I need do download the driver from that CD, OR from the manufacturer support site...i take it they just mean the JVC site? Damnit i dont know!!! Since the dawn of man I have been cocking up what I get it, like first I got a 4 pin 6 pin lead. If I need this driver, how do I actually get it? And if there's any other problem I may have that is really clever and technical you can say, could you describe it so I know what to do? Thanks in advance :)

If you have a mini dv (cassette) camcorder….

Your dv camcorder needs a firewire connection (ieee 1394) in order to download video, your laptop probably did not come with a firewire port, so you will have to buy one and install it, (make sure your laptop has an empty bay) since most computers (except possibly brand new) don't come with a firewire port, your camcorder did not come with a firewire cord so you have to purchase a cord too. Your camcorder did come with a USB cord and that is used for downloading stills from your camcorder.

You don't need another driver!  The firewire driver is part of the operating system, so it's already there.  Connect the camcorder, switch it to "play" and then go into Windows Movie Maker.  Go to File / Capture Video and you should be OK.  Make sure you've got plenty of disk space, the files are big!
