  1. In all honesty, breeder boxes are really a waste. In a healthy tank the ideal way to allow a guppy to give birth is to leave her be in her current surroundings. Provide lots of plants and hiding places for the babies - the healthy ones will survive. The unhealthy ones won't. You won't get overstocked with too many fry (baby fish), and your adults won't get so stressed.

  2. This happened to my feeder guppy. ( It wasnt in a breeding box though) Some females cannot have the babies and they will burst or something like that. I asked a lady at a fish store and she said she couldn't deliver the babies. I think this is what happened to you. p.s. was she huge when she was dead? Like something really abnormal? Hope I helped

  3. I don't know what a guppy is, I'll look it up right after I'm done typing this. But I'm sorry :-(..

    OK it's a fish

Alright, i did some research and it sounds like for a mother guppy should NOT be put in a breeders box, it stresses then out way to much and some people have the mothers die from stress alone, so that's what i think happened to yours.

    Sorry.

  4. A breeder box can stress a guppy mom out. This is what I do. When you get another female, buy a tank seperator, so you can section off a small section of your tank(about a quarter of it,or less). They sell them at petco, or petsmart. This will give her more room. This will also be helpful in keeping the male and females seperate. When she does eventually have the fry, take her out of the smaller sectioned area, and leave the fry in there. So they are protected from the rest of the tank population. Be sure to have some hiding places in the smaller area so the fry can hide from the mom. She will try to eat them after she is done giving birth. You may lose some, but not all. Not to worry though, now that she has given birth, mark this day on the calender, around 28 to 30 days later, she should be ready again. Good luck.
