so today is my last day and i'm working from home. i gave my boss more than enough time to hire someone to replace me but he didn't. today i'm just finishing up my stuff and i called him to let him know i'll be working from home. he got pissed off because he wanted to give me "a bunch of little projects" that i can complete on my own time. i already told him i can't work part-time for him as i have other projects, and most importantly, i can't stand him at all! he's a terrible person. so he started talking c**p to me and made it sound like i don't a have a choice. i'm supposed to call him back in a few hours once i complete my current tasks.

what can i say to him to make it clear to him? i feel like i'm going to snap at him or hung up on him if he pisses me off. i don't need him for anything, as i got all my paperwork, payment, and everything, and i definitely don't need a psycho for a reference (i have plenty of others). what can do i do to make it clear to him that it's OVER?

he's really stressing me out!!

  1. tell him that you gave your notice and will not be working for him anymore. he has to get some one other then you

  2. Just don't call back.  When he calls just tell him you quit.  thats it. you don't have to take any c**p from him.  tell him to get someone else to do his grunt work.  I would throw in some names like slave driver just for the fun of it.  there is no law that requires you to work when you don't like your job.  trust me on this.  put it all behind you.

  3. just go up tohim, ad say after today you may nver see from or her from me again, because i m leaving

i dont think you understand, i will ot be working part time,i will have a new job working for a completely diffret person

i think you should look for someone who could do my job. i told you this B4 you need t understand

  4. why cant you say boss i am through of everything that you ask me to do and yell at me so it is through and i quit

  5. finish what work you have left, submit it, and dont call back.

  6. Go into the office and open up the yellow pages to Attorneys.  Leave the book open in a place where he'll see it.

  7. Well good for you for putting up with it so long! I certainly wouldn't have lasted. If you gave your three weeks, finished your tasks, and got all the necessary paperwork done; then you owe him nothing. You've obviously been an asset to him if he's still asking for help, but you just need to tell him sternly that it is your last day and you will take on no other projects. If he continues, I would simply ignore him, and if it persists further than talk to someone of higher power because it's harassment. Good luck with that jerk, haha, and congrats and finally getting rid of him!

  8. Accept the projects that you can get done today and then at the end of the work day send him (and maybe a second person like a coworker or his boss or someone that needs to know) a really nice thank you note gushing about how you have really enjoyed the job, how you thank them for being great employers, etc.

Also don't forget a paragraph stating that you have completed all work assigned to you while in the position and where you have put any documents, etc that are relevant for new and upcoming projects so that your replacement can start on them as soon as they begin working there.

That will send the message that you are done (because you are returning all documentation, etc) and yet be professional.

  9. He's not very professional.. talk to his superior

  10. Today is your last day so don't worry about it and don't feel guilty. As of end of day today turn in your final work stuff and that's that, don't let him bully you. This is free country and you have every right to quit your job. Don't even call him, if he calls you then tell him that you are no longer available period!

  11. Don't call him  back.  Just send the projects that he asked you to do right back to him UNFINISHED.  It's your last day with this company, what is he going to do to you....fire you?  It's your last day, you should be glad you won't have to put up with him anymore.

  12. s***w him. Tell him you'll take those little projects. Then don't do them.

What does he have over you?

  13. Call your HR rep and tell them what's going on. I am assuming you have a new job lined up, tell your current boss to go F himself. What do you owe him? Nothing.

  14. Tell him, after today that your employment is terminated, and that you would be happy to finish any and all projects for him on a consultant level. If he agrees, send him a contract for consulting at at least 3x your employee salary...

He wont go for it and you walk away as the good guy and you havent burned your bridges

  15. go to your work and tell him your not doing it and you want to get paid now and then leave with your middle finger in the air

  16. My girlfriend is going through a similar experience.

She's a hostess at McGrath's, a sea-food resturaunt, and as it turns out, her father is the manager for the Red Lobster in our town, so HER manager is constantly talking c**p about her dad, he says it's jokingly, but he simply takes it too far. Ironically, my grilfriend's manager's WIFE works at Red Lobster, but her dad is completely nice to his employees.

So my girlfriend's manager is always taking his aggression out on her by saying things like he "wants to punch" her dad, or just flat out makes fun of Red Lobster, even though RL gets probably two times as much business as McGrath's.

Example: one night, Red Lobster was so overrun with customers that they had to bring furniture out from the patio to seat everyone, the manager's wife let something slip about it, now my girlfriend never hears the end of this jerk's constant c**p talking about her father, simply because he does better than HER manager.

So recently she brought this up with McGrath's general manager (the guy above her own supervisor) and he sincerely appologized, but too many times has my girlfriend come home pouring tears just because of this relentless bullcrap her manager is giving her every day. So she put in her two weeks, and they've done everything short of crawling on their knees begging her to stay.

They take her for granted, even on her worst days she wears a smile for the customers and does every single thing her managers ask for her with 100% efficiency, she is quite possibly their best hostess, and I'm not just saying this because we're dating =P

Long story short: don't stand for poor management, if they can't appreciate you, then they don't desserve you, they need a wake up call if they treat their employees like c**p, and they'll never learn until they realize that they're pushing away their best workers.

I hope this helped and posibly motivated you to make your decision, you're doing the right thing by choosing to leave, you desserve better than that.

  17. So dont do anything and stop working.

Why should you finish your work? You already quit so you have nothing to lose plus he is making you work like a Dog.

He cant withhold your pay because that is 1000000000% illegal so why are you still doing work for him? Call him back and say "you know what i would have done it but oyu have such a bad attitude your on your own!!" if he starts going off threaten the labour board and he will shut up quickly.

  18. Don't do anything. Tell him straight up that you quit.

This happened to me once. I gave my two weeks, and on my last day my boss expected me to stay late and finish up all this extra work he gave me. I'm talking about a three foot pile of paperwork. I just said that my work day ended at 6pm, and that I was going home. He freaked out, and I tried to stay calm and explain that he knew I was quitting and I'm sorry that he can't handle my work load :-)

This came back to haunt me though. On one application it required me to name all of my past jobs. I included this one because it was a pretty good job. My new employer called my old boss to verify that I worked there, and he hung up on her. Twice. Thank god I knew someone that worked in the place I was applying because I would not have been hired.

Good Luck and tell him that It isn't your problem.

  19. Just go home  have a glass of wine!

  20. say "i'm sorry sir but i've already made it clear to you that i am unable to do any part time work for you." if he gives you an attitude just say to h**l with him and press on.

  21. That does not sound like fun at all!

If you have plenty of other references than don't worry about pissing him off. You gave him more than enough time to find someone else to cover you. If he was smart he would have hired someone and then let you train them.

It's your last day. Ignore him when he wants you to do more work that would take you more than today to complete. He is just stressing out, but that is NOT your problem.

  22. Continue to finish what you planned on finishing.  At the end of the business day, just call him and tell him it was nice working for his company and thanks for the opportunity.  If he gets pissy and asks you to do more work, tell him you would, but you don't work for him anymore.  There isn't much he can do about it, especially if you already have another position, because you don't need him for reference.

  23. Although it might be the stressiest day of your life, think from the heart... today's your LAST day. Tomorrow will be better. Sometimes it helps to live for future when you're going through anxious periods rather than for the moment.

  24. just tell him, look mr X i dont know if we have some kind of communication error or misunderstanding here but today is my last day and from 3.00 or what ever the job is not my responsibility so i will not be starting any other projects, they are all yours as from now and if you have any problem with this please refer to my resignation.

thankyou and send my p45 in the post

gd luck in the future MATE

  25. Complaining about it won't help...

  26. It's your last day for goodness sakes! Who cares what you do! Play a prank on him! No, you'll get rejected from your next job... But REALLY, does it really matter what you do on your last day?!

  27. tell him to eat s--t you quit now this minute. Then tell him this is why you are quitting to begin with he is a pitiful person
