i know it sounds kind of dumb i really am scared that there going to call and yell at me.

and im not going to go into detail why i quit without notice but i do have another job lined up and the job that i just quit was making me miserable (getting in trouble for little things like leaving a light on) and besides that my hours were just getting less and less and less because we just havnt been busy( i worked at a day spa, where my hours were based on how busy we were)

so yeah. any advice on how to calm my nerves?

  1. They can't do anything to you, so don't worry about it.

The only bad thing that could come of this is that they'd give you a bad reference, but if you don't put them down as a reference on future job applications, it won't matter.

  2. if they call dont answer and if you do hang up simple as that

  3. i love quitting without notice and causing comomtion.  it makes me feel better. i never got called and yelled at because of it.

  4. Just take a deep breath and relax. LOTS of people quit their jobs without notice. More often than not, the former employer does NOT call and yell. Not sure what state you live in, but some DO allow you to quit without notice. Some require 2 weeks. If you are in the 2 week state, don't use anyone from there for a reference. You are normal----you need more hours and you need to work somewhere that doesn't make you miserable!!! Good luck with the new job! And if, for some reason they do call and yell, just smile and say " with the way you are speaking to me right now, I really don't understand why you want to know why I quit!"

  5. They won't call you, but you now have a bad reference for future jobs...don't put them on your resumes!

They won't call you unless they beg for you to come back to work.  Don't worry. :)

  6. HI,I'm in the same position as you right know, today i quit my job and i was supposed to go to work but i just could not take it anymore and just had to quit and leave they called me like 18 times but i did not pick up the phone. I was scared like you were but then i asked myself why am i scared of picking up the phone? when i'm doing something better for me so i could continue my goals wish is to become a world recognized model.I just had to leave because i was being treated unfair and i did not like it. so just relax and tell yourself your doing it for your own good.they cant do anything to you, there just talking over the phone and they cant make you go to work either by force.Good Luck!!!!

  7. Breathe deeply & slowly.

Dont let it bother you. I've done the same thing. If they call you & yell, just hang up. You have no legal responsibility. But perhaps they'll make a sweeter offer. Even if you dont want to work there, its a sweet stroke to your ego!

The best reason to quit a job is when your unhappy there. If you're ever asked about why you quit (& it will probably never come up) tell the truth.

  8. I quit a job like this before because they were being very petty with me and I was so unhappy. You know what I don't think their going to call you and if they do just say, " Hey I wasnt happy, I wasn't getting the hours I feel i deserved. And tell them its not your problem ITS THEIRS!" Best of luck!

  9. An employee at will (as I assume you were-no contact) can leave for any or no reason, or be fired for any or no reason, except the small number of reasons prohibited by law (race, age, etc.).

Likeliness they will yell at you? Very, very small. They know the rules.

The double standard is that employers LIKE notice, but they usually don't give notice themselves.

Feel good. It seems you made the right choice.

  10. Sounds like you did not handle this well.  There is almost no good reason not to give some kind of notice.  Having said that, you need to take a deep breath and think of a good response should they call and they probably won't.  Something like I just couldn't handle the stress of being constantly criticized plus I had to find real full time work.  Good Luck.

  11. If you already have another job lined up don't worry about what they are going to say.  If it was me i would just say i no longer work for you and hang up the phone.  I am a big believer in job satisfaction and if a job makes you unhappy it is time, for your sanity and other people who work alongside you to move on.  Best of luck
