I had a very healthy drive, maybe too healthy. I used to want s*x at least once or twice a day. I'm male/34 years old. I eat pretty healthy (fresh fruits and veggies) and exercise. I also take a multivitamin. I've been trying to quit smoking for a few years now. After not smoking for around two weeks my s*x drive vanishes. (Cold turkey.) If I start smoking again my drive comes right back. All info I read says smoking can diminish your s*x drive. For me it's the exact opposite. It's not depression. I'm quite happy and in a good relationship but I miss my s*x drive, or at least some of it. And so does she. I've heard others say the same happens to them. It seems it's quite common yet can't find much written about it. Is this not common? Why does this happen? Is this a temporary adjustment or permanent loss of s*x drive?

  1. i'm not an expert but i do know that smoking is very hard on the body. and changing you lifestyle so immediately like that will confuse your body. but once you have been off the cigarettes for a while your body will go back to normal. so don't start smoking again!!!

  2. Are you taking Zyban to stop smoking? It can cause diminished libido (it's the same drug as Wellbutrin, which is an antidepressant).

  3. Jay's right.  It's dopamine.  Here's a link with some added info.  Ithelps that "lovin' feeling" as well as gets linked to / triggered by many things.

" Dopamine is behind a lot of the desire we associate with eating and sexual intercourse. Similarly, all addictive drugs trigger dopamine (the "craving neurochemical") to stimulate the pleasure/reward center. So do gambling, shopping, overeating and other, seemingly unrelated, activities. Go shopping: dopamine. Smoke a cigarette: dopamine. Computer games: dopamine. Heroin: dopamine. o****m: dopamine. They all work somewhat differently on the brain, but all raise your dopamine"  Here's the link...

Your body is sorting these things out right now and has to reach a new stable level.  There may be things you can do to otherwise increase the level or speed this up.

    Good luck!

  4. It is because smoke and s*x.  They both have same thing in commen.  And that is your brain cells DOPAMIN.  It is active normally in human body but once u smoke.  It creates more so you feel good. But Then your brain stop making them because you already have enough from smoking.  So when u stop smoking you dont feel that good and passionate.  But once u stop smoking for a LONG time your brain will start making it after a while.  then you will feel good about s*x and not smoking at the same time.

  5. dude i know what your sayin im 23 and smoked for 7 years ive quit for 2 years and then chewed a while  i havent chewed for 8  months but my s*x drive has lowered i dont get as horny as i once was, but let me tell you my d**k will explode while witching p**n kinda weird but it happend to me to when i quit chewing.....makes me wanna start again

  6. Smoking decreases the diameter of your blood vessels, which decreases the amount of blood flowing to your p***s. You can reverse this with healthy lifestyle changes.
