I quit smoking over a year ago. Why is there still so much stuff in my lungs?

  1. It takes times for your lungs to heal. The tar gets deep into the lung tissue, and it takes time for the lungs to get all of the nasty stuff out.


  2. I quit smoking seven years ago, and it took a while for my lungs to clear out. I was coughing constantly for months afterward.

    If you're still having trouble, maybe have an x-ray done or something. Make sure it's not something that needs further treatment.
