  1. It might handle it but remember it's only rated for 7 hp so when your pulled over for safety check you might get a ticket???


  2. Just run it at 70 % throttle! jk, i don't think it would be a big concern. some ashole inspector or overly stubborn ranger might care.

  3. I wouldn't worry to much about 3hp extra power, we in the marine business often over rate the boats HP by usually 10% or so. Let's say a boat is rated for a 100hp we would mount a 115hp O/B and so on.

    Just make sure that you have the propeller of the proper propeller pitch, this will keep the motor from over reving at high speeds.

    Use what you have why spend more money on some-thing you've already got.
