My DIL has 2 baby boy cousins (around 2 yrs old) and they are all afraid or won't p**p in the potty, My friend's grand son age 2.5 refuses to p**p in the potty. They all go off and hide. My granddaughter is 28 months old and poops in the potty with no problem. Is this primarily a boy problem.

  1. Boys are generally slower, and harder to potty train.

  2. Nope - definitely not a boy thing, I knew a few parents that have girls like that - even at 4 yrs old (which I find disturbing because they are in Kindy here then), and I have a 3yr old who has been peeing in the toilet (on a kiddy toilet seat) for over 6 months now, but she refused to go p**p, it's only been the last week or 2 that she's starting to go p**p in the toilet, then comes and tells me and we have a lil dance and sing praises cause she pooped in the toilet lol. definitely not a boy thing.

  3. I've trained 3 children, and I can say that it is not just a boy problem.  Some children have a difficult time "letting go" because it is such a strong feeling for them.

Please tell your daughter in law that it is normal, and that she should be patient.  My sons all trained during their third year (24-36 months) so there is nothing to worry about.

    Good luck!
