I read about "grits and tote" and am trying to find out what is meant by "grits and tote".

I read this phrase in a book about Southern Soul Food. I know what Grits are but the Tote has me baffled.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the grits were made to be carried to wherever. Most grits solidify after cooking especially if they cool down. This recipe sounds as if you could take it somewhere else and the grits would still be semi loose. Hope this helps out.
