I read in the newspaper that one boy was sitting under tree for past 7 years without food in Nepal. What Vedadri Maharshi said was correct. The boy was getting energy from sun through leaves. It proves that one can live without food also. You will agree with me the boy gets free all tensions, worries and mental agony because he was thinking about always one point like Buddha.

  4. I don't know where you got that from or how authentic the report is, but the fact is that energy and nutrition are two different things. Take the case of plants. They need sunlight, water and nutrients from the soil to survive. Leave a plant without water and nutrients and put it in the sunlight. It will surely not survive. Likewise humans too can not survive without food or water. Food not only provides the necessary energy for a human being to perform different actions, it essentially assists in human metabolism. The different organs within the human body survive on the nutrients provided by food. A human being on fast can survive 72 hours or more without food and water depending on his body type. Even during this period of fast, his/her body receives the necessary nutrition from the fat and fluid reserves in the body, although actual food and water is not taken. When the reserves deplete, the body collapses and ultimately leads to the death of the fasting person. You have cited the example of Buddha, but after a lengthy period of meditation without food, he too ultimately accepted food from Sujata.

Regarding the boy's getting energy from the sun through leaves makes little sense. If he is sitting in the open, he can get solar energy directly. But if he is taking some kind of leaf, that obviously is his food. You are correct in stating that he is without any tension, worry and mental agony during his long fasting period, but the reason for the same is not correct. As already stated, without food, the internal organs start to weaken over a period of time, before collapsing ultimately. The nervous system and the brain ceases to function without nutrition. Naturally a person would have lost physical and mental feelings as a consequence.

  5. Wow, that's amazing. I find that really cool. Just imagine if we could sit under a tree and not have to eat because we were getting energy? Could you put up a link? I'd love to read that article?

  6. Your story is not true.  If he was getting energy from the sun through leaves, he was eating leaves.  That's food.  Despite miracles to the contrary, a human can not live without some outside nutrition.  We have no chlorophyll to produce energy from the sun.
