I read somewhere that nuts should be kept in the fridge.?

What about keeping them in the freezer? which method is the best to preserve their dryness and freshness?

  1. Freezer, even if you have a small amount might as well kepp them in the freezer (b/c of the oils like previoulsy mentioned).  The nuts don't actually freeze so you wouldn't have to worry about thawing them out when you're ready to use them.

    I do it all the time :)


  2. You read right- they will remain crisp, fresh  and keep for months! and not have that rancid taste & smell

  3. Nuts have a high oil content and oil can turn rancid.  It really isn't necessary unless you buy them in large amounts and take a long time to use them.  Seeds tend to spoil faster and really benefit from refrigeration.  I wouldn't freeze them as the defrosting process tends to change the texture and could leave them sort of spongy.
