  1. They have                                                                                                                   almost 4 times as many people                                                                         so they only need a per capita income1/4 of ours to catch up  in total GDP which they should achieve  in decades. I do not think that having over a billion people lifted out of abject poverty is unfortunate and we do not need them to  be poor for us    to do well. Economic well being is not a zero         sum game.

  2. I read in Times magazine that it'll take over by 2020. I think China and US will both be very equal economic partners soon, but I doubt China will be able to mantain it's current growth for much longer than 2020.

  3. It would seem quite likely. Goldman Sachs predict that by 2050 the Chinese economony will be the largest in the world and will be over three times the size of second placed USA.

  4. I doubt that it will take that long.  Not so much because of the rate at which China's economy is growing, rather, on the rate that America's economy is declining.

  5. what exactly is holding the u.s. economy together as it is? our jobs are outsourced to india, nothing is made in the usa anymore i don't think it will take that long, i'd say about a year or two

  6. It wont take that long.....and here's another thought.....they may not need oil to do it.  those people lived for centuries without cars and gas....you know they know how to survive without it!

  7. who the h**l cares about china in 2035?
