  1. Well they are definately losers.

  2. They are the best team in the NL on paper and in the standings.

However, the playoffs are like a new season and a lot can happen in a short series.

Overall, this is the best or second best team they have had since 1908.  The only other one that may be better was the 1984 team.

  3. yup, i think they're gonna win it all.

  4. I'll buy the "Loveable Losers" title, I feel it is appropriate. Cubs fans have been VERY LOYAL over the past century despite the fact their team hasn't done much, even when they have choked in the postseason. They have stood by their team through winning and losing, which is what true fans should do.

They have the potential to go deep into October, but there is still two months to go and anything can happen.

In my opinion, I feel there are only two things that can trouble the Cubs in the postseason: injuries and inexperience.

Injuries can really take a toll on a club especially when it counts (during the playoffs). The Cubs have young players (Theriot, Soto, Fontenot, Marshall, Marmol) and some veterans, but the lack of playoff experience in the young players and Fukudome may come back and hurt.

Other than that I could see Chicago in the World Series. They are THAT good.

  5. Yeah def.

The lineup and rotation is nasty. The Cubs on paper are the best NL team as well as by record. They have a huge chance of going far into the playoffs and not to disrespect other NL team, but there are not so many good or even decent teams. I think the biggest compeition is in their own division.

  6. its certainly their best chance so far (in the last several years that is).  Their team has more talent than they have for a long time.  Still, i dont think they have what it takes to win the world series.

  7. im a 17 year old in high school, and this is definitely the best team the cubs have had since ive been around (yes i think they are overall better than the 2003 team). theres only 2 things im really worried about, which are pretty minor things if you ask me.

    1. Alfonso soriano's health. He needs to not get hurt the rest of the way

    2. Kosuke Fukudomes slump. I knew he was in a slump, but i didn't know he was hitting in the low .200's since Mid-june! He has brought the leather night in and night out, but he really needs to start swinging the bat the way he did early in the season. He has a track record in japan, so i would expect him to bust out of this very shortly.

Other than that, anything short of a world series berth is a complete, utter failure this season in my opinion.

  8. I don't know about the loveable title....

I don't think they will go far in the playoffs. History backs me up. They play great at home, but not so great on the road. I think cool weather will cool them off also.

  9. GO WHITE SOX!!!  LOl
