I really dont understand this quote?

The quote goes "Life is like a box of chocolates, u never know wat u will get". I have bought a few boxes of chocolates in my time and all of them have written sumwhere wat different flavours u will get and how many of them r there.

way back when the boxes were not marked like they are now, so in reality you did not know what you were going to get until you bit into it.

Yeah, they are usually labelled... what you don't know is whether they suck or not... although they usually suck... except the coconut ones ;)

It used to be that f***y Mae, Whitman's and other chocolates did NOT label the contents, so one never did know what you'll get.  It might be maple cream, or it might be crunchy frog.

You are being too technical. It is just a saying that when you take one you don't know what the filling is.

When you offer someone chocolate, alot of the time people don't let you see the sheet that says what flavor you are grabbing. So you just reach in grab one and never know what your gonna get. Plus Forrest Gump was mentally challenged

lol yes thats true but if you don't read you don't know and maybe when whoever said that quote they never used to write what they were on the box

I think a box of chocolates was all the writers of "Forrest Gump" could come up with when they added that quote because it's something that you get all kinds of different flavors of chocolate.  Maybe back in the 60's and 70's they didn't have the list of chocolates on the back or on the lid, so that quote made sense for Forrest's mom to say, considering what time period the movie is set.  I'm not sure if that helps any, but I tried.
