I have awesome friends who I hang out with during the summer and some weekends. And no, there aren't any bullies at school. But I hate my school and I'm entering 10th grade, the people there suck and are snobs. And the academic stuff is really hard. I'd rather spend time with my family and friends. I go to the top school in my city and the top ranked public school in the United States and its impossible to switch because my parents want me there. So...any words of encouragement or any ideas at all will help. Thanks! :)

  2. look wat u gotta worry bout

    no bullies!!!!

    aweosome friends!!

    great education!!

    man wtf!!

  3. can you tell me what exactly it is you don't like, what is causing your depression?

could it be that you just don't like doing things that you are made to do? If this is the case then all i can say is we all have to do things we don't enjoy doing.....only a couple more yrs and then all the decisions will be yours.

Once you have finished school don't be bullied into what your parents expect of you. Ok fine listen to them as they have your best interests at heart, but draw the line at living out their lives!

Good luck and don't worry, it won't be for much longer :)

  4. I am a lot older than you (38) but I'm sort of in a similar situation.  I am a PhD student at a fairly good school.  People are jerks there.  What keeps me going is that I will get to do what I love when I'm done.  I have had other jobs and I know what it's like to have a job that is not mentally challenging.

Sometimes, it is helpful to understand that when people are jerks, it is usually not because of what you've done.  It is because of how they feel.  For example, if things are going well for you.  Some people may feel threatened.  They may have thought they were better than you but now they have to face the fact that you may be better.  So they react by saying hurtful stuff.

You are very lucky to be at a top school.  This will open many doors (choices) to you.  Being in high school sucks everywhere, unless you are a bully or an idiot who will peak in high school and never achieve anything in life.  Stay focused on your future because thankfully, high school does not last forever.

  5. I, also, went to one of the top schools in the country - the student to teacher ratio is 12 but was 9 when I attended.  The average, three-part, SAT score in 2007, was 1990 so is higher than average (mine was much higher).  It's unfortunate you are too self-absorbed to be thankful and realize what a privilege it is to receive a top-notch education aimed at preparing you for college.   You would, perhaps, not feel you are surrounded by snobs if you weren't so, generally, critical of others which causes this so-definitive word to, also, be applicable to you.   This said, however, I believe you are experiencing separation-grief which is an understandable reaction when you're facing the obstacles of attending a new school and leaving friends who were your supportive classmates.  There has been a big change in your life but  a positive qualitiy, which is sought in personal and business situations, is adaptability - the time has come for you to begin demanding this of yourself and realize that self-discipline isn't an anomoly.  If your father didn't impose the self-discipline of staying at his job to support his family and your mother didn't do the same with her responsibilities, where would you be today?

In my graduating class of 105, 96% have college or university degrees and three students went to Oxford for Masters.  Three are physicians, two are psychologists, one is a professor of mathematics at MIT, another a professor of English at Smith, one a professor of English at Yale, seven are lawyers, one is in theatre, one was a lead soprano with the Metropolitan Opera, two have Divinity degrees, nine are school teachers, two are CEO's of large corporations, five, or more, have their own companies and a few are with brokerage firms. You should note that many are, directly, contributing to the welfare of society which, if you focus on your studies may, some day, be true of you.

This opporunity shouldn't be squandered as your education is of the utmost importance.   Being a good (or better than) student, will earn the respect of your parents, teachers and peers and makes an, incomparable, contribution to your self-confidence.  I suggest you learn to concentrate on the positives, rather than the negatives, as you will be a happier person and those who are happy within themselves attract others.

Many people would prefer life to be a "lark" without a structured disciplinary factor - the ones who live this way are, I believe, referred to as the "dregs of society".

Note, please:  it's "friends whom" and not "friends who" - (this info' should be useful in your English classes).

  6. Drop out immediately and go start your adult life now.  Get a job and your own place and make your own life for yourself.  Either that or stop whining you stupid little snot.  Have fun, join the wrestling or football team.  Get a part time job and hump a lot of 11th grade girls.  Get a cool car etc..
