I love Bok Choy in Teriyaki Stir-Fry but I would like to use it for other things as well. I like to try out new recipes all of the time -- especially ones loaded with new types of veggies!!! Are there any asian or non-asian recipes that use Bok Choy in an interesting/delicious way???

  1. use it like a soup, boil the meat, and add seasonings. Enjoy!

  2. Use in anything that you would use regular cabbage in.  Try making a soy based coleslaw with Grilled Teriyaki Chicken.  But check on line for tons of recipes using Bok Choy.

  3. My mom like flash boils it so its slightly cooked and then she goes and gets some hot pepper paste, sesame seeds, sesame oil, salt, pepper, green onions and vinegar and stirs it all together. Its really good!

(sorry i dont know the exact amounts.)

    Hope this helps!

  4. You can eat it with lo mein or any kind of soup noodles.

You can also stir fry it with some cloves of garlic and a little dried scallops. I think you add oyster sauce or salt when you stir fry it, but I'm not sure.

  5. GO to Kona Grill and get SWEET CHLI GLAZED CHICKEN it com sw/ bok choy

  6. Love it in stir fry, too! I've used it in soups. Each end gives a different texture, a different taste.

    Like it raw, too.

Steamed as a side dish with butter, olive oil or just S&P

& I've used it in omelettes and fried rice as well.

  7. I just steam it and serve with salt & pepper as a side veggie ... especially good with pork tenderloin  (but I use baby bok choy)

  8. The other day I used this recipe for Braised Endive and substituted Baby Bok Choy for the Endive - it was delicious!

    braised endive

    1/3 cup water

    2 tablespoons unsalted butter

    1 teaspoon sugar

    3/4 teaspoon salt

3 medium Belgian endives (1 lb total), each cut lengthwise into 6 wedges

Bring water, butter, sugar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and a pinch of pepper to a simmer in a 10-inch heavy skillet. Add endive in 1 layer, then braise, covered, turning wedges over once, 10 minutes.

Remove lid and increase heat to moderately high, then cook, turning over occasionally, until all of liquid is evaporated and endive is very tender and well caramelized, 6 to 8 minutes.

  12. Green Dumplings

    Serves 6 to 8

    Ingredients:

1 1/2 pounds bok choy or Shanghai bok choy

    1/2 cake firm tofu

    2 egg whites

    4 scallions, minced

    2 teaspoons soy sauce

    1 teaspoon minced garlic

    1 teaspoon minced ginger

    1/4 teaspoon sesame oil

2 dozen gyoza wrappers (or wonton wrappers cut into circles)

    Preparation:

Steam or microwave bok choy until wilted. Let cool, then drain and chop finely. Press out any excess liquid.

In a food processor, puree tofu with the egg whites. Add to bok choy. Add scallions.

Combine remaining ingredients, except gyoza wrappers. Add to bok choy mixture, mixing well. Place about two teaspoons of filling in the centre of each gyoza wrapper. Draw dough up and pinch together at three points to form a triangle, leaving middle of filling exposed.

Arrange on a heatproof plate or steamer tray and steam over boiling water until cooked through, about 4 minutes.
