but the measurements say that it is only 60mm wide, and i was wondering how they measure this because it looks a lot bigger than that in the pictures. Can anyone tell me if this phone is worth buying?

  1. I'd rather have a phone that takes care of my needs (and more!), like my Blackberry does, than to have one that attracts compliments from others. What's your purpose?

  2. Is the reason you want it big because you're worried about the size of keypad? because if thats it, then don't worry about. texting is a breeze on it.

  3. Hi,

You don't actually say why you want a bigger phone. Is it for the usability of the keyboard?

My experience is the usability of the keyboard has a lot to do with the engineering as much as the size. I find the Curve keyboard very easy to use (and I have big hands) - it has good travel, good tactile feedback, and it's easy to hit the right keys.

The Treo 680 - by contrast, is about the same size but needs harder pressure and the buttons have less travel, so it feels a bit more awkward.

The only thing I don't like about the Blackberry keyboard is that they didn't choose to give a separate key to 'period'.

A minimum size *is* important, the Treo Centro, by contrast, is a really small QWERTY keyboard and I can use it without screaming, but just barely.

If it's for the screen that you want a big phone -- the Curve screen is very crisp, clear, and easy to read. and I don't have any complaints. I've used it in the car with the Blackberry Maps navigation and it's very usable

Ok, a nice big TomTom 4.3 inch screen is way preferable for navigation, but the 8310 is very passable.

The Curve is... compared to similarly featured phones... very light, very pocketable, very comfortable to hold. As you say, it's only 60 mm wide but it doesn't feel too cramped and it's nice to have something that fits in your shirt pocket without ripping it off!

If you could clarify why exactly you're looking for a bigger phone - exactly what your concerns are - maybe someone can make a constructive suggestion as to alternatives.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers

    Steve

  4. I don't like them, get a Motorola Q9h, I have that phone and people always compliment it.

In answer to the person below me : Once I have the QWERTY keyboard, my needs are fulfilled, It's a fashion accessory for the most part, I'm not some pretenscious business man who makes everything important in his life. i think its cool and that makes me happy. I don't care if theres F'ing chewing gum inside of it, infact i hope there is!
