I agree with Gabriella; this isn't the notebook for you.  Many college text books now come with DVD-ROMs and you'll need to use them.

I would try your local freecycle group.  And post a "wanted" message and see if you get lucky.

Tip: Don't get a mac book air. It would not be good for college. Mac book air does not have a CD drive or anything! How can you use it to the fullest if there is hardly anything to use?! Personally, I woulld get a Mac Pro.

And abou getting it for free just go on google and search "Free merchendise with refferals" or something like that.
