I really need a name for my school's volunteer group!?

This year, I recently entered a volunteer group where we help the local community by either picking up trash or holding a canned food drives. Lately, the leader of the organization has given us a job: to find a name for our group (preferably an analogy like for example- W.A.R.= We Are Responsible~ or something having to do with love, giving, volunteering, caring or peace, etc.) and we also need some ideas for community service projects. We are REALLY tired of picking up trash!! Names and project ideas PLEEEEZE!!!!!!!

I am Kamlesh Kishor Jha, the managing Director of Sathisangi Youth Family, Nepal.

We have established this family with a keen motto to develop the world, humanism and passion.

SATHISANGI YOUTHS FAMILY is a family with varied motives and objectives. Sangisathi is an organization that focuses on global friendship and earning with education. It is an open platform for all the youths and especially for them who want to achieve in their life. As the name states, SATHISANGI is an all time partner for each and every people out there. We focus that every youth can do something and so we would like to promote them. Sathisangi, in local language, means the friends together. It is not the outcome of any individuals’ passion rather Sathisangi is the organization representing each and every people’s passion, belief and inner core.



What we believe is that each and every people in the world have a motive, they have a skill but they can’t show them off. The main cause is the lack of platform. We believe in the world with global friendship. That is what we call the people working hand in hand. We see the dream of the world where all the youths will dance together and will work for the benefit of the world. Our belief is that if the youths are developed, then one day whole the world will be developed. The third countries will shake hands with the developed and there will be no terrorism, no obligation and neither the under development phase.



Sathisangi has main motive to be a stage where all the youths from all above the world will come and dance together, they will share their ideas and relate their lifestyles.

I read your question and thought that i can also get some help from you. We want to form an international youths family. So that we can share our ideas. Hey there is no end of trash so you will never not be needed,

Your club is a great idea!  What about a name that has your school or town name in it or school mascot name?    MAD Bulldogs for exmple with MAD standing for making a dfference   and also showing that ppl throwing junk all over is enuff to make anyone mad.  Same for other problems you reach out to solve.

Projects _ canned food drive is wonderful bec there are alwas hungry ppl I wish our ministry had somene doing that right now. for info on need see www.secondharvest.org  put in your zip and see places you can help and hunger statistics where you are.

You can also do a community clothes drive and give away especially as seasons change for ex we do a back to school day where ppl in the community give hand me downs in good wearable condition that their kids outgrew and any parent or grandparent can come get what their kids need.It is a 1 day thing and a couple of weeks before hand getting ready.  Left overs go to community thrift shop.   Cost is pretty much 0 and even in this small town we see 100-300 kids getting clothes each yr. for pictures and ideas see http://caringhandsmin,tripod.com and click on Clothes Day

You could also do a book or toy or school supplies drive for a homeless or domestic violence shelter,a diaper and baby blanket collection for a crisis pregnancy center, a pet food collection for an animal shelter especilly a no kill shelter or to take to the senior center to help low income older people be able to keep their pets.  How about a concert or carwsh or acraft show to raise money for a place that helps ppl who need rent or light bill help or to help fund a zoo or museum?   Does anyone have ther nerve to dress up in a rabbit costume and offer pictures with the easter bunny or pictures of a pet with the Bunny to raise money for a cause?  The rest of you help sell the pictires,line ppl up and do posters and PR,.  

For more ideas call your United Way and a get a list of places in the community that help ppl and animals then call a few and ask them what they need.

P.U.T. Picking Up Trash you could have a logo of an arm holding up a garbage bag? or C.O.W. Cleaning Our World you could even have a little logo of a cow with a trash bag?

you guys could volunteer to read to sick children or to cheer them up, working in soup kitchens or homless shelters, getting donations for poor kids, starting up your own fund raiser etc. As for names i have no idea.
