  1. I would think that making excuses; lying; is worse for your "image"..

Say, I am sorry, but I need to leave early today, and this is why (fill in the blanks).

If you are so concerned about your image; ask the presenter/instructor who is providing the training, "Is there anyway I can get the needed information later so I can review it?"

Secondly, no matter if you like "the stuff" or not, if it is part of your job you either do it, or look for another job.

  2. If this training is for your job you should "suck it up" and stay. You say your worried about your image, well your work ethic is a big part of your image. people will know your using an excuse to get out. besides if you stay you may learn something even if you don't like the subject. just go in with an open mind. Good Luck hope you make the right decision.

  3. Seeing it through to the end of the "training", no matter how boring is a responsibility that a mature adult takes.  Excuses are what immature people make up for ducking out of a responsibility.  You can only "wow" people for about 15 minutes with an "image", after that, you have to show that you not only know your stuff, but have the responsibility to handle it.

Instead of creating an "image" how about letting them just know the real you.  If something isn't for you, have the guts to stand up and say it.  People respect you more for speaking up and being honest instead of ducking and running away when it comes to a work ethic.

  4. Is your training for a job? for a class? you don't say. Maybe you don't like it because you need it. I see people I know duck out of things when they get tough, and there are things they don't want to face. If the training itself is poorly done, you should speak up, maybe it could be made better.

  5. As soon as you arrive, make sure the instructor (or whoever) is informed that you have to leave an hour early to "make it to your doctor's appointment," or "pick up your mother for an appointment across town," or "take your car in for a repair" or "to catch a flight"...

  6. doctor's appointment....never fails....know from experience

  7. Do you really need to leave that bad? Why not stay and start the new year by giving everything your best and NOT quitting?

  8. say you have a bad stomach and that you cant hold it out any longer.  Or perhaps that there's an "emergency" that you need to attend to.

  9. have a friend or family member call and say its an emergency. it always works for me
