I really need help: Navy or Air Force?

My friend is a Permanent Resident (green card holder) and just finished his Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Now he is studying for a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering.

The thing is he wants to join either the Navy or the Air Force, but doesn’t really know who has good benefits.

The question he has though is, "can you become an officer or something similar if you have a green card?" And what other things can he benefit from this?

Thank you so much guys.

  1. well for benifits most people go into the air force, because when you get out you have a pention like most military branches. And i also think you get better healthcare and more housing allowence but im not sure about that, have more information on the marine core. Anyway hope this helped and yes he can  be an officer if he has a green card he is a legal us citizen now.

  2. I was in the Air Force, but before I joined I talked to all the recruiters. I narrowed it down to the same two choices as your friend. I can't give any info on becoming an officer with a green card, but I will suggest considering the following for choosing which branch - how does he feel about sea duty? The choice of career field (job) could get him on an aircraft carrier - cramped quarters, but overall very big, or he might choose something that is only for subs - cramped, and no going outside for a breath of fresh air. I don't know your friend, he needs to look at all angles, not just benefits before he chooses.

  3. It is as simple as this:  If you like water then the Navy is the way to go, otherwise it would be the Air Force. Contact the recruiter for facts about Green Card holders in the U.S. Military.
