I just turned 18, thank god, and I 'm counting down until August 16, when I leave for college. But on my Graduation day, my parents skipped out, then when I got home, my mom hit me and called me uncouth names because she was angry at me (?!). The whole story's too long to relate, but here's my problem: I need to get out of here. I'm sick of being treating like walking ****. I want to go to college and become a journalist, but even with my generous scholarships, I need my parent's money to pay for the rest of my expenses. It's probably too late to get more fin. aid, otherwise I would, and I just started working, so I haven't made much money yet. In addition, I need somewhere to stay. I don't want to involve the authorities, I just want to live peacefully. Anyone have any suggestions, please? I can't take this **** anymore and no one believes me when I tell them about what's going on. My mom's punches to my face don't leave marks either, otherwise I'd use them as evidence. Please help me

  1. you could work 2 jobs

  2. There are two sides to every story, I want you to know I bear that in mind. HOWEVER NOTHING deems hitting someone, especially their child. Thank God you have intelligence, and also that you know there's a better world out there, that awaits you. Someone who has gone out, and procured a job, plus is trying to put their self through college earns my respect hand's down! I know you will go far kid, you've got the right stuff! Are there no friend's, relatives, someone, you can stay with until college starts, and perhaps a little longer? Perhaps once you get into college there are students who need roommates. Perhaps not on campus per se, but off-campus. Maybe more jobs will open up, or a better job. Look into the financial aid, doesn't hurt to ask. I know it's tough, I came from a dysfunctional family. Grew up in the projects of KC. Made it out of there. Didn't have physically abuse parents, though. I belonged to a gang to survive. Hitting me would have been a bad option! I know this sound's crappy, but get out there, and see what your options are. There must be some that you haven't found yet. Chin up, I know it's gonna' be alright. Eventually with time, you'll see this too.

  6. You're not (a) trying hard enough, and/or (b) wanting out bad enough. If it's as bad as you think/say, you would find a way out. AND you WOULD involve the "authorities". If someone, ANYONE, smacks you, you either defend yourself, or GTFO. Hard, brutal fact of life. If you wanted out bad enough, you'd find some place to go. Time to stop making excuses and start living your life.

  7. ohh by im soo sorry..

  8. Check with the school or do web research into more financial aid as well as look into getting loans for what your parents will pay and cut ties. If it's that bad, they'll hold that over your head. It's better to just leave and not come back. It's not going to be easy but you can do it. Have any friends that will let you stay with them until school starts?
