I am new to cycling and basically use my bike to get myself around town, explore new areas, do a ride here and there (up to 40 miles). I ride 10-20 miles daily on a variety of mixed surfaces. Originally I was riding a mountain bike. Then it wore out to the point where it would cost a coupple hundred dollars to fix it. I need a bike that can handle this schedual of moderate distances, yet still be comfortable. I heard regular hybrids aren't that good for distances but are great for around town. A performance hybrid would be what I need, but I hate the jarring sensation of hitting every little bump. Plus I don't think that would work well on lakeside trails or detours on gravel roads. People also tell me that mountain bikes are a no-go for distances. What am I supposed to do??? I cannot spend more than 500 dollars. Anyone have advice? I would appreciate it so much!
