  1. hit the ball with the hard part of ur hand other wise it will smack and not go anywhere

  2. If you can practice against a wall. You will get better.

  3. ok well ya this is giong to be kinda hard but this is what you do:

    1. if you are a right handed person like me you are going to have your left foot in front of you.

have your back strait and dont lean back and not lean way to forward. just a nice little slant that is confortable.

    2. again if you are a right handed person: put both hands on the ball. your left hand should be on the bottom and your right hand should be on the top.

    3. stick your arms out at your shoulder height. make sure your arms are at a perfect horizontal line. make sure you still have your legs and hands where they are supposed to be.

    4. pull ur right hand back to your. but make sure the palm of your hand is facing out.

    5. let your left arm drop a couple of inches and toss the ball up or your right side of your body. this may take a while but find a height that is good for you to serve it when you toss the ball.

    6. after you toss the ball. bring your right palm of your hand exactly to the middle of the ball. and swing trough.

wat i mean by swing trough is once you make contact with the volleyball. keep that same swing until you get your arm behing your back.

ok omg this took me like forever to type. i really hope this helped and if my answer was the best answer i am asking you if you can vote it as best answer cayse i am really trying to get to level three! thanks victoria

  4. It helps me to bounce the ball three times smacking it so you no that you are hitting it right.  Then when you go to actually serve imagine yourself hitting the ball so hard your hand goes through it.  Another good tip is make sure you hit the ball 2 feet above your head and straight on and not under the ball.

  5. I used to have trouble with my overhand serve too.

One problem I used to have is I used to swing my arm too slow when I served.

You need to swing your arm FAST, and straight, and follow through.

I'm right-handed, so I start with my right foot forward, and take a small step with my left foot as I toss the ball up (straight in front of me). Contact the ball with the palm of your hand and keep your wrist strong and your fingers together.

Watch some people who can serve well, and ask your coach to help you.

    Hope that helps!

  6. I'm so glad you're perservering, it is such a good skill to have! Here are some tips that might help you master your overhand serve:

    1. TAKE YOUR TIME

The official rule is that you have 8 seconds to perform your serve. This is actually an eternity. Rushing your serve will only s***w up your routine, and cause you to lose serve and lose the point! So wait for the whistle!

    2. CREATE A ROUTINE

Your routine is perhaps the most important aspect of your “pre-serve”.Decide how many bounces, slaps, etc. you will do before going into the serving motions. This will give you some familiarity and make your serve consistent.

This also includes knowing how far you are from the service line (“serves go over, feet don’t!”)

    3. CHOOSE YOUR VICTIM

Picking a target on the floor will keep you from serving “out”.

Avoid good back row players, such as the libero as your victim. Find a possible hole on the floor (ex. in the middle of a cup formation)

    4. THE TOSS

This is the most important aspect of the actual serve.

Bring the ball in both hands in front of your body.

Toss with both hands and do not toss between your legs!

    5. FANCY FOOTWORK

Stand so that your feet are about shoulder width apart, with your foot the same side as your hitting arm slightly ahead of the opposite foot. Check: Are your feet/body facing your victim? Are your feet far enough from the service line?

6.THE TOSS CONTINUEDThrow the ball about 4 feet to double your height. Toss straight up- too far ahead/behind will throw off your serve.

    7. CONTACTING THE BALL

    Lead with your elbow.

Make solid contact on the top of the ball.

Don’t poke the ball-put some muscle into it!

NEVER, EVER fist the ball. Cast your palm as open as possible for the most surface area.

While contacting the ball, step with the foot opposite your hitting arm.

    8. BODY MOVEMENTS

This will give you the most balance and propel your body.

Pull your non-hitting arm down, and let your hips twist when you hit the ball.

    9. FOLLOW THROUGH

After hitting the ball, snap your wrist.

This will give you the top spin you want to make your serve difficult to receive. Drag your foot -the same side as your hitting arm-because you cannot take 2 steps.

    Best of luck!

  7. work on form, not power... power will come

if ur right-handed do this...if ur a lefty do the opposite:

hold ball with left hand in front of right shoulder.

    **** back right arm.

    toss ball.

hit with right hand and SWING ALL THE WAY THROUGH.

hit the ball with your arm fully extended.

don't take more than three steps.
