  1. There are these things, called VETS you should see one about that!

"When an animal is sick, vets examine it to find out why. They look for clues in the way an animal looks, acts, and smells. Vets need to look carefully because animals can't say what is wrong."

  2. Buy an economy size bottle of 'Head and Shoulders'.

Put the hampster in the bottle and s***w down the lid.

  3. everyone is being quite mean,... i wont be! i think you should see a vet,...it could be nothing much or it could be something terrible! so please take her to the vet!

    give her kisses 4 me!

    good luck!

  4. Hey!

I am so sorry that people are being mean to you! I mean, you just asked a question, you just wanted to get an answer!

Well, I won't be mean to you! :-]

I would probably take it to the vet, like many other people said! You probably would want to fix your problem, before it gets any worse!

  5. hi my advice is take her to the vet as it does sound like a mite or some sort of allergy the only way you will know is going to the vet good luck and hope you hamster gets well soon

  6. take him to a vet

  7. I guess you are mentioning that your hamster's skin is getting badly flaky.

Flaky skin in hamsters can be due to any of the following reasons -

Old age - there is nothing that can be done about flaky skin due to old age, fur loss combined with flaky skin is common in old hamster

Mite / Mange - check the hamster's fur for mite or mange. The hamster would also have severe itching symptoms. If confirmed, you will have to use an anti mite spray meant for rodents. The head of the hamster should be shielded to avoid spraying into the eyes and the body sprayed. The cage should be cleaned, sprayed with the anti-mite spray and clean bedding should be provided. This treatment should be repeated as directed on the anti-mite spray. In case of mange, a vet help would be appropriate.

Ringworm - Ringworm is a contagious skin disease caused by fungal infection. The hamster has circular bald patches where the skin is dry and crusty and the hamster may scratch. The hamster should be isolated from other hamsters and any other animals and veterinary treatment should be sought immediately.

Allergies - the main causes of allergy could be bedding, food or environment. Wood shavings and bedding can be replaced with tissue paper to establish if the bedding material is the cause of the allergy, feeding a plain diet for a few days may establish if the hamster is suffering from a food allergy and moving the hamster to a different room may help to establish if it is something in it's environment which is the cause of the allergy.Once the source of the allergy has been found this should be removed and the hamster should recover fairly quickly.

Quicky rule out all of the above and your hamster will get better. If it is old age, there is nothing you can do about it. If the condition still persists, make an appointment with a vet immediately.

  8. You can call a petco or petsmart! They have experts and suggestions on how to fix the problem. They also can refer you to supplies to help solve your problem! When my hamster screached I called them and they fixed it! Hope this helps!

  9. go to the doctor

  10. go to a vet duhh or atleast call one

  11. Please take the hamster to a vet, the poor thing could be in distress!!!

How long has it been like this?  Please make an appointment first thing in the morning for the poor thing to see a vet.

  12. Aww, poor hamster. I have no idea what could be wrong, but you definitely want to take her/him a vet.

  13. Go to a vet

  14. here are a couple of things I found for you. hope it helps.

    Dermatophytosis

Symptoms Loss of hair then flakey skin followed by lesions that get bigger and more frequent with time, sometimes without creating a scab. Secondary infection usually follows suit particularly under the belly.

Causes Initial cause is most likely due to either a vulnerability to the fungus or stress or a change in lifestyle. Initial infection is a fungus with a secondary bacterial infection.

Treatment Any bacterial infection in wounds should be treated with a small animal antiseptic or an antibiotic cream.

Medication Fuciderm - A gel that is rubbed into the skin which serves as an antibiotic and a steriod.

Imaveral - 1ml to every 50ml of water. Should be applied once every 4 days with cotton wool.

*New Treatment*Malaseb - An antibacterial and antifungal shampoo that should be applied to coat every 5 days. Should be applied and left for 10minutes and then rinsed off.

    Eczema

Symptoms Flakey, dry skin underneath the fur. In baby hamsters this condition can slow growth slightly.

Causes Stress is a major factor associated with Eczema and can usually be attributed to being untame with the owner. Also old hamsters can get it as their immune systems get weaker. Large variations in temperature can get them to show signs.

Sometimes this condition is an allergic response often to the bedding. Some types of wood shavings can cause irritation such as acidic pine shavings.

This condition is not regarded as serious.

Treatment In old hamsters vegetable oil can be rubbed onto the skin. Although your hamster looks slightly bedraggled there is no harm when it licks it off unlike human moisturiser. In all other cases immediately change the bedding. Our case involved a stressed baby Syrian, we exchanged the sawdust for hay and the condition vanished. After a few weeks she was less stressed and we tried her back on sawdust, she was fine.

Medication Fuciderm - A gel that is rubbed into the skin which serves as an antibiotic and a steriod. Rubbed on twice a day.

I would still take him to a vet.
