  1. 4

    --- <== Over

    5

    ------------------

    - 8

    ------

    ~5

    I think that's how it goes i hope...

    First do the reciprocal of -8/5 = -5/8

    Now change the division sign to multiplication...

    4/5 * -5/8

    Find a common denominator.

    Multiply both denominators 5*8 = 40

    Now 40 is going to be your denominator for both fractions next Multiply 4 & 8 = 32/40

    Now -5 * 5 = -25/40

    32/40 * -25/40

    Multiply straight across.

    32 * -25

    -----------

    40 * 40

    -800

    ------

    1600

    Reduces to

    -1/2 <== That's your answer!!

    Hope this helped!! :]

  2. I'm pretty sure that to divide fractions you need to change the problem to multiplication and invert the second fraction.. in other words..

      4/5 / -8/5

    = 4/5 * -5/8

    and solve from there

  3. 4/5 divided by negative 5/8 = negative 1/2

    Here's how you do it:

    STEP 1: 4/5 (division symbol) (-8/5)

    STEP 2: 4/5 (multiplication symbol or dot) (-5/8)

    STEP 3: Cancel the fives and you get -4/8

    STEP 4: Simplify -4/8 to -1/2

    Hope this helped

    I'm positive this is the right answer

    I'm a straight A eighth grader
