I recently went to a dentist and had a exam and i have 3 root canals in a row that need to be fixed asap. It is causing me so much pain and I am 5 months pregnant and can't take anything other than tylenol for the pain. I have no insurance and the dentist quoted me 4400 and there is no way I can afford it. I tried care credit but they wouldn't approve me for that amount. Does anyone know of any lower cost options? If it helps I live in Arizona. Thanks!

  1. Go to a dental school and get it done or try Tijuana, Mexico. It's cheaper there, but they still do a good job. But don't drink the water there or eat or drink anything people may be selling around the border...it could make you and your baby sick. Or, just find a cheaper dentist. Good luck! :)And I live in Arizona, too! (Gilbert, lol. If it's cheaper, try Dr. Stephen Vital in Mesa [look him up and their prices online].) It really is cheaper in Mexico, though...by far. For all of my and by family's dental work we got in Tijuana (cleanings and filling for cavities), it only cost is $715! Compared to, like, almost $2,000 in Mesa. :)

  2. You need to check into State Medicaid. If you are single and pregnant you should be able to qualify for WIC and some other things that can help you out with not only medical bills but food and even housing. If you are able to get on this and you qualify for the medical help there should be dentists that accept it. Go in the yellow pages and get some numbers for dentists in the area and ask if they accept Medicaid insurance. IF you cant do that, then try and find a place that is willing to set up a payment plan with you. Maybe you coudl afford to pay $50 a month on it....you may be paying for a while, but sometimes you have to do that. Good Luck

  3. if i were you i would get insurance . . . . . if your pregnant that is even more of a reason to. . . also try a different dentist, some dentist dont charge a cent for certain fillings.

  4. Try your local health department. Also, check to see if there are any dental schools nearby. They take patients for free/reduced prices.

Good luck. I know how horrible it is to be in need of dental work but have no insurance.

  5. open clinic is your best shot

  6. Found this web site:  (1) CASS Dental Clinic for serving homeless children, women and men.  Located in Phoenix.

Maybe worthwhile to check in with them to see with you not having insurance, whether you would qualify or not.

Another option that my sister utilizes is the Dental Schools.  She has always told me that the rates are soooo much cheaper.  The students need patients to work on for practice.

Found this one site  (2) listed below) in Mesa of all the Dental Schools in that area for you to check out as well.  Check out closer cities to where you are for schools possibly closer and more convenient for you.

This site (3) below is just more info on the Mesa School.

The last site (4) has a search for schools in your area option.  This is a career site, but at least it will show you where the schools are closest to you, then you can give them a call to see where one would go to get worked on by students..

Hope this works for you.  Good luck!

  7. go to mexico they should have lower cost check around

  8. http://mybenefitsplus.com/esalah

Here's a very affordable dental plan without all the hassle of insurance! Good luck.

  9. Do you live near Mesa or Glendale? ATSU/Arizona School of Dentistry has clinics there.

  10. Can you go to your prenatal department of the hospital where you'll be giving birth and ask about help with insurance costs? I just know that the hospital I go to have representatives that will help get you approved for a special type of insurance that covers a mother while she's pregnant and it includes dental! I was encouraged to get any dental work done while I was pregnant, since serious dental problems like cavities can cause infections that can complicate things in the pregnancy.

  11. look on the internet look at Gecko see if they can  help you

  12. Try finding a dental school in your area.  Students can do the dental work under licensed dentists for free.  I did that when I didn't have insurance.
