I really need some advice...?

I've been thinking about this for months, ever since my volleyball season ended. I am a junior in highschool and this past fall was my first season ever playing volleyball on a jv team. The coach was really nice and I absolutely fell in love with my team. When the season ended, I began to miss all of the fun times we had together so much, sometimes it was almost unbearable. And next year, when I'll be a senior, I'm going to have to try out for varsity. But truth be told, I would do anything to be on jv again. I really miss my coach and team. I always look up to my coach as a father figure (since i don't have a real dad). I've been asking many people about whether it's possible for a senior to be on a jv team, and some say it is but that i should talk to my coach. And I was planning to do that, but then I began to wonder if coach would think less of me if I asked to be on jv again. Please help! Any advice will be highly appreciated!

  1. In most schools (if not all), seniors aren't allowed to be put on a JV team.  That's why you see a lot of seniors on varsity that don't get a lot of playing time.  So, chances are, even if you wanted to be on JV, you wouldn't be able to.

  2. Well, talk to your coach. I know what youre going through. I dont think that he would think any less of you. If anything, hed probably think more of you for your loyalty to your team. Like my coach always says, your team is your family...

    Hope this helps,

  3. I would talk to your JV coach and the varsity coach and see if they can make it work out. GOOD LUCK!

  4. Where I live Seniors on JV are only permitted if every other coach in the distirct is willing to sign off on you being there. Typically, that rarely happens. While you look up to the coach as a JV coach he should still be around. As for your friends, I would imagine most of them would want to play Varsity if they just played JV. I say branch out and try for Varsity.

  5. I would recommend that you talk to your JV coach and see whether you can work at his assistant coach.
