so, my computer was running slow, so me being my stupid self, used a program called WipeDrive to start fresh. the thing is, i didn't make a back-up disk or ANYTHING. and we got my Sony Vaio desktop from ebay and it didn't come with anything to restore Vaio if it's erased. well i erased it. now the only thing i have on it is Windows XP that shouldn't even be on my computer [it's my stepdad's disk for his computer, so i'm not even sure if it's working right]. i can't get on the internet and no programs will run properly.

did i completely ruin my hard drive?

is there any way to fix it?

  1. do you own another computer by any chance? do you have any kind of access to the internet (library, laptop, work)

My main suggestion is this. I hope it will help you.

Contact Vaio: go to their website and two options.

    1. Look for something dealing with drivers. Most companies have a web page with the basic drivers for their computers. They usauly are easy to get and free.

    if that fails.

    2. While on the VAIO web site look for tech support and see if there's a way to contact them. Might be able to do a online tech chat. You want a system and a online drivers first of all.

You get those two, then through online updates you can usauly get the others.

Im really surprised the person who sold you the computer didnt supply any system cd's. If all else fails, which i dont suspect they will, you might try to see if you can find the seller again on Ebay and contact them to see if they possible have the cd's siting around and can mail them to you.

One other option and you might just be told to go download them online, but ask tech support if they can mail you the basic cd's. Usualy its just a couple of cd's.

    anyway hope i helped.
