just one little small question

So this is the problem:

The perimeter of a rectangular block of land is two times the width plus two times the length

Using W to represent width and L to represent length, write a formula for the perimeter , using P to represent perimeter.

i got P=2W+2L but the answer is actually 2w+2L=P so my question is can P=2W+2L also be correct? or is it wrong? or can it be 2L+2W=P?

does it really matter about the order?

  2. yes, it is correct..all u did was swap the equation..but u didn't change any of the numbers so it's still right...XDXDXD

  3. No the order does not matter, as long as the right numbers get added to the right numbers.

  4. the order does not matter

    in addition and multiplication order does not matter .

    in case you have doubt substitute value for x and y

    lets say x=7 and y=3

    2*7+2*3=20

    2*3+2*7=20

    similarly for area of rectangle s x*y

    let say x=10 and y=20

    x*y=200 and y*x=200

    addition and multiplication are commutative and associative means a+b=b+a

    similarly multiplication

    associative=a+(b+c)=(a+b)+c

    commutative=a+b=b+a

  5. no your answer is perfectly fine the answer can come before or after the equation in algebra because sometimes you have to find an answer on both sides
