I really wanna get a tattoo!?

HEY everyone,

My parents are pretty strict about me having a tattoo. I pierced my belly button without letting them know and when they figured it out they were reaaally upset and frustrated. Now im trying to convince them to get a tattoo. I dont want to get a one without telling them again soo how can i convince them? they dont really understand why i wanna get one and telling the reason just doesnt help!

If you get a tattoo without your parent's written permission,  they can sue the person who gave it to you. Think about the financial harm you might be doing to another person.

Do you understand why they don't want you to have one?

Isn't there some sort of tattoo that only lasts for a few months?

What about having an artist use paint instead of ink - and spend the money every few months getting it retouched. That way when you're an adult and you won't regret anything nor will you be spending money and going through the pain of having it removed.

A tattoo is art, something you have to live with and even if removed will still leave an affect, why do you really wanna get a tattoo?

because its cool?

make friends jealous?

or just because you want one?

i guarantee that if you get this you are likely to regret it.

People get the wrong idea completely about tattoos, they are just for fun!!

wait! and if you are young i doubt you will get one anyway unless you go to a dodgy back street parlour.

I am going to say that it is probably safe to say that there is nothing you could say to them that is going to make them ok with you getting a tattoo.  I am 26 and I waited til I moved out to get any tattoos and my father is still not happy about it and he just ignores the fact that I have tattoos now. why do you want a tatoo?  to make your skin more clorful or you just want to be cool tell us the reason why you want one.  maybe we or i can help more.

They won't understand, but they might be able to deal with it if you try for something that isn't too obvious and scary to them.

You're right not to try to hide it from them this time, or they'll really freak and lock you in your room for six years.

What if you got like a Henna tat on your ankle that looks conservative enough for them to actually like it.  Then if they can deal with that, you could ask about a real one, that you like more and they would be sort of used to the idea.  

Also, try to act really mature for a few days before asking... like do your homework and chores so they aren't already on edge when you ask.

i have the same problem. i want to get my lip pierced but my parents don't really like the idea. you may never be able to convince them. you just have to do it. the reasons they don't want you to do it is because they don't find it attractive or they think its wrong. you just need to realize that they are not you. do what u want its your life. and if your parents may be mad or disappointed but they cant be mad their whole lives. they need to except the way you want to be
