Dating and boyfriends are two separate things.  Even when you are old enough to date, you should not have a boyfriend.  Kids (Young adults) SHOULD NOT GET INTO EXCLUSIVE RELATIONSHIPS UNTIL THEY ARE FINISHED WITH THEIR EDUCATION!  Sorry, don't mean to pontificate.  Relationships are dream killers.  Set and achieve your professional goals, then get a boyfriend.  Until then, meet as many guys as you like.

think about it though.. why do you want a boyfriend? do you plan to get serious with him? do you like him a LOT?! if you really like a guy and think the relationship could last longer than usual middle school relationships then maybe you should just stay close with him so when you're older you can start something more and so you'd stay under your parents' terms.

but if you just want a boyfriend to have one.. why? whats the point?

Your parents are very wise.  I didn't have a regular girlfriend until I was 14, in high school.  My 12 yr. old grandson, in 7th grade, has no desire to have a regular girl friend.  Kids can meet at social centers and elsewhere, and be friendly without any ties on themselves.  Have fun and don't grow up too soon.
