I really want a job in a US embassy HOW CAN I GET THIS!!! :(?

I was in the US Army and I received an Honorable discharge.. Have a BA Degree... Bilingual Spanish Engligh and Portugese... Any ideas?

  1. Call the State Department & inquire about an application & interview. Military background will help you. Everyone I have ever known that worked at Embassy was in CIA but they talked about ex-military that worked at embassy with them.


  2. www.state.gov  Will be where you start.  You need to take a Dept of State exam, but they are always looking for folks that have linguistic skills.  Having your degree is definitely a bonus as well.  It can take a long time to get on with the Dept of State, but take your test and apply and before you know it, you will be out in the field.

If you live overseas and already have the necessary residence/work permit(s), then you may apply at a US foreign mission as a local hire.  Otherwise, you will need to apply through the State Department, or an agency that staffs an office at a US foreign mission (DHS, DEA, FBI, Agriculture, Commerce, etc.), or a private contractor (Blackwater, etc).
