  1. I hope you've researched the whole "rat" thing because they aren't as fascinating as you think. They are also very annoying to have in your room while you are trying to sleep.

If she won't get you one for your b-day then I suggest you save up for one (with her permission of course) and get one with your own money. If your mom still says no then...tough luck. Its her house, she makes the rules. Sorry.

  2. You should listen to your mother. You need money to care for the rat, and you need to be willing to clean it daily, feed it daily, and let it out for many hours on a daily basis. You also need money in case it gets sick and needs to go to the vet. If you are not working and your mom does not want to take on that responsibility then I strongly suggest waiting till your financially fit. If you do get a rat please don't get it from Petsmart, go to an  animal shelter and adopt one! !

  3. I agree with Nessi(sp?) dont get animals from petsmart. Either a good breeder, or adopt. Quick story, i got a hamster from there once and it gave my other wet tail and they both died, not very healthy there for animals. So start with fish or a mouse.

  4. Tell her you will clean out the cage daily, make sure he has food and water. You will not let the rat out of the cage to run on the floor you will have a wheel etc. for it to get exercise. and you will be totally responsible for the rat. If you slack off and do not take care of the rat, as promised;you will get rid of it.

  5. keep on asking her and show her that you can take care of it!!!

    just keep asking her..lol!-

  6. what i did is i started out with fish, and then went up to a hamster, and now i have a dog. start out with something little and show her that you can take care of it and then maybe a few months later she just might let you get it

  7. Show her your responsibility skills, then she'll know you can take care of a pet.
