Any chance I could find a rescues or is this too specific since I want a specific breed, age and female dog?

If I have to buy a dog- how can I be positive that it's not a puppy mill? How do you find a good breeder?

  1. You could talk to Jeff he does own a pet shop. I would trust him for that. There is an aspca in Philly. WHy not check with the local shelters before you buy another dog. There is also in Voohees The Awa and the Animal Orphanage.

  2. there are breed specific shelters and rescues... do a google search or try pet finder most of those are shelters

I personally after thorough research got my dog from a good breeder... its been 2 years now and shes still there with answers for my questions

Weather rescuing or purchasing a dog its a very good idea to search the breed of dog you intend to get

Having  a dog is a huge responsibility Good Luck

  3. You can always visit animal shelters. No it's not too specific. You can also go to Petfinder.com or Petharbor.com, they will help you rescue a dog (baby, young, adult,  or senior), male or female. Some of the puppies do come from puppy mills but they have been rescued by the shelter. Petfinder.com gives you a little background info about the dog and you can also called the shelter to ask specific questions.

I'd say check shelters before paying a breeder hundreds of dollars. I'm almost 100% that the shelter or breed rescues have come by your desired dog time and time again. Let's work on the overpopulated shelters before paying a breeder $600 or more, to "humanely euthanize" to the same dog you could have gotten from the shelter.
