I really want contacts, but...?

I have terrible vision. I have glasses, but I really don't like them anymore. I hate having to carry them around and I don't like how they look on me. I've wanted contacts for a while, but everytime I ask my parents, they never listen or don't even care. How can I convince them that they are right for me. Help!

  1. BUDDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do not have bad vision... guess what... Courtney M. u no how she had glasses well she didny need them!!!!!!!!!! Like she said she had farsight vision and i put on her glasses and u could see far away but not up cl0se!!!!!!!! SHE DIDN'T EVEN NEED THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  2. I got contacts yesterday and I had 20/25 vision and astigmatism in both eyes...lucky for me, they had my contacts in stock. Mine are the newest on the market (no difference really) so I'm the tester for these. I can't even tell that they're in anymore! I can see so much better and it's really easy to put them in and take them out after you're trained to do it. Just explain to your parents that  contacts could really help your self-confidence and could actually improve your vision. If you're careful, you don't have to worry about getting them dirty like you do with your glasses. You don't have the edges blocking your vision like you do with glasses and it's all around more comfortable. I had red lines etched into my nose from my glasses and my nose was very sore (been wearing glasses since 1st grade). Now I don't have that problem. Also, how old are you? I'm 13 (14 in March) and my mom and stepdad were totally supportive; she practically begged me to get contacts and I was so scared. Just explain to your parents why you want contacts and how much it will cost (we have great insurance 'cause of the Electricians Union and mine are covered 100% so is LASIK) and hopefully they'll say yes!

  3. Contacts are a big responsibility, if you don't take care of them, they can cause severe eye damage. If you want contacts, you need to prove to your parents that you are responsible enough. You need to keep your room clean, keep the bathroom clean (most people keep their contacts in the bathroom and if your bathroom is disgusting, so is you contacts), and help out around the house WITHOUT being asked. I give this advice to all my teenage patients who want contacts and 95% of the time it works!

Delivery- usually the doctor will give you a trial pair when you go in for your exam, so you walk out of the office wearing contacts. Once you have determined that you like the brand, you will spend the time to put them in, take them out and clean them, it usually only takes a couple days for your doctor to get your annual supply in, but remember, while your waiting, you have your trial pair to wear!
