I really want hamsters, are they good pets?

Question

I have wanted hamsters for a few months now and i am so desperate to get them. The thing is, i have a dog. And my mum is afraid of them and calls them vermin! I showed her pictures and i made a presentation on them. She said that she'll say yes if my dad does. The thing is, my dad is really hard to convince and he gets angry if i ask him. I don't know what to do. Please help me! I will pay for everything out of my own money! HELP ME CONVINCE MY FAMILY TO GET HAMSTERS! (2 roborovski females)

here is advice if u get hamsters: don't put them in the same cage for long.they can die. hamsters are really sensitive to other hamsters.if u put the hamsters togeter long they get into fights.one of my hamsters roots fell out because of the fight and another hamsters eye fell of.I sm really sad

Hamsters are generally not social animals. Most hamsters hate human contact and are known for biting and territorial behavior of their cage.

If you really do want a hamster, though, I see you want to get two of them. Whatever you do, don't. Hamsters are not even social with each other. They like to be kept alone, even though Petco and other pet stores keep them in one cage all together. Hamsters will most likely fight with each other, and when they do they can fight to the death.

Obviously, your mom wouldn't like this idea, seeing as she thinks that hamsters are vermin, but you should get two or more rats. They are extremely friendly and many rats never bite. If they do bite, it's probably because they were not handled at birth. If you want a good rat, check out breeders. If you want a rat from a pet store, make sure to stick your hand in the cage first to see which rat will visit you. Don't visit them. That means they are probably not social animals if they don't want to come up to your hand.

Hamster are ok if you handle them right.

they need to be handled alot from when they are small so they get used to people.

Personally id say you would be better with a gunnia pig or a  rabbit

i had exactly da same problem, u just hav 2 wait wen hes in a good mood..and be REALLY nice to him then ask he in a polite way and explain to him dat u'l pay 4 it and ul look after it and ect.

get 2 rats instead, they make much better pets than hamsters and they wont bite you like a hamster will

just tell him u want some pet hamsters my dad was the same try getin ur mum talk to him i did and that waorked now i have 2 dwarfs show him some pics dont be scared if he wells answer him back dont want to get u into trouble but just tell him u want 1 that ur willing 2 pay for it and he doesnt even have to c it if he dont want to and not being funny but ur mum sayin ask ur dad is her way of passing the but my mum does it ask ur dad they do it to intemidate u because they no u wont want ot ask ur dad anyway just speak to him u never know may work
